When I lived in Mt. St. Aignan, approximately a thousand years ago, I attended a private girls' high school in Rouen next to the train station; at lunch I used to hang out at a cafe around the corner, le Cafe du Donjon. Sadly, the Donjon is no longer -- it's been replaced by a Credit Agricole bank -- so after getting off the train I sat instead at the Cafe Metropole, to catch my breath and get my bearings. Then I hopped on a bus for Mt. St. Aignan, where I found Annie waiting for me in her front yard.

Annie let me drive her to the grocery store.
She also taught me a new game called Crapette: a two-person variation on Canfield solitaire. She kicked my butt, twice in a row.

We found her stash of family photos, which included several that I took while I lived with them. (Don't judge me; it was the 80s.)

Annie, 1984.

Laetitia, the youngest sister of the family, came by in the evening. I hadn't seen her in 25 years -- we had a LOT of catching up to do!
