Cannes Is a Carnival

For my last day in Cannes, I spent a lazy morning wandering along the Croisette, popping into the Hotel Carlton and gawping at the hilarious costumes and the ridiculous cars parked out front.

The only electric car I saw was this tiny Citroen. I chatted with the guys driving it, and told them their car was the best on the strip.

In the afternoon, I treated myself to a fancy beach experience at one of the private oceanside restaurants. (More than half of Cannes' beach is privately controlled by hotels and restaurants. There are also three public beaches, but they were packed; the nice one, which had bathrooms and showers, required a reservation and was full.)

It was expensive, but very relaxing -- I could have stayed there for two more days! Unfortunately, they closed at 6pm, and it was time to move on.
