My Kayak trip to the blue coast got canceled at the last minute, so this morning instead I went with Martine to her regular swimming spot. We had to ride the bus to get there - it was a short walk to the bus stop, and then a ride of maybe 15 minutes to a neighborhood where we walked for another five minutes to get to the water.

There was no beach, just rocks. Getting in the water requires shoes or tough feet, and excellent balance. Evidently the water is usually calm, but today it was choppier than normal and some rogue waves made it challenging and a bit scary - both of us got knocked over while getting in. But the water - oh my! It’s gorgeous. Perfect temperature, with little fish; it was glorious. Martine says she comes here most mornings, and I can see why.

On the way back up to the bus stop, we got to peek into the kitchen of the local hotel.

Back in town, we stopped into a wonderful thrift store a few doors down from Martine's apartment, which had some amazing antiques at very reasonable prices.
