Paris: The Art of Tiny Living

My first Airbnb apartment in Paris was a good find - and a great lesson in tiny house living. My final AirBnB was equally awesome, and similarly petite.

To accommodate the limited space available, the French have impossibly small fridges, showers, sinks, washing machines, and dishwashers. They’ve even got half-size watering cans!

In the first apartment, which I had all to myself, it wasn’t clear to me if the doyenne lives there full time or if it’s a pied-a-terre. (The owner seemed to have a concierge who helped me with logistics, but it was filled with books and art supplies and kids books, making me wonder if maybe she’s a single mom? Though it wasn’t clear to me where the kid would sleep…)

I spent my last few days in Paris sharing a hosted Airbnb in Montrouge with Christophe, a true “Super Host” who made me feel instantly at home. His place was also quite small, but it felt like living with a fantastic roommate. He actually owns a studio apartment (in Montparnasse) but he rented this apartment several years ago because his studio was too small (I can only imagine…!)
