The French Riviera: Cannes

I left Marseille for Cannes, in order to attend a one-day drawing/watercolor workshop. I didn't anticipate how fun the city would be! It's like a mash-up of Paris, LA, and Waikiki Beach. Not somewhere I'd necessarily want to live, but it was a fantastic place to spend a few days on holiday.

I stayed in a youth hostel called Banana's Camp. (Really. See my other post about French business names.) Housed in a recently-renovated old mansion, it had a big, well-appointed communal kitchen, solid wifi, clean bathrooms and cheerful, helpful staff. I stayed in a women's room with a comfy bottom bunk and friendly fellow travelers. I had worried about staying in a hostel as an older traveler, but my experience at Banana's Camp was nothing but positive.

Dinner at Banana's Camp, purchased from the nearby chicken shop and grocery store. Yum!
